Perfectly Imperfect

“You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.” ~ Max Ehrmann, Desiderata

I enjoy sharing visual inspiration on my Facebook and Pinterest pages; I use the space as an on-line scrapbook. I post messages on a daily basis to remind myself of the big picture. I also hope to give other mothers something to smile about.

I find it fascinating to observe which messages or quotes evoke the strongest response from others.  The most popular one that I ever shared so far is this one from Jinxiboo.com

After I posted it, there was an overwhelming flurry of “likes” and “shares”. It made me think. What is it about this message that universally rings true? What does it say to me?

  • You are perfect just the way you are;
  • Celebrate your ‘flaws’ – they are what make you beautiful and unique;
  • Love who you are at this very moment;
  • Perfection is a myth;
  • Be real;
  • Share your experience;
  • Stay authentic.

I like this message for so many reasons. It reflects a lot of what I try to say through my writing. It reminds me that I am perfectly imperfect. Figuring it out as I go along. Making adjustments when my life gets out of balance. Staying true to my core values. Accepting my flaws. Living life with open eyes and an open heart.

How are you perfectly imperfect?

    Hi Sweetheart,

    I hope I can take you advice in this article.
    I always want thing to be perfect —- which
    is not possible.
    The more I think about it — this is almost
    everybody’s problem. xoxo

    I love Desiderata. And I’m sure we all need and benefit from a reminder that being imperfect is perfection in itself. Thanks for sharing this!

    I’m still struggling not to try to be perfect (especially with the holidays coming up) but everytime a dear friend opens themselves up and honestly shares their flaws I learn I can be imperfect around them too. I really appreciate that about true friendship.
